Online training for educators

supporting students with hearing loss 

Hear and Say offers a professional development opportunity for education professionals who have a student with any degree of hearing loss in their childcare, kindergarten or school in 2017. This online workshop is also suitable for parents and carers.

 

The workshop will provide information on:

 

  • Enhancing the child’s functioning in inclusive settings
  • Hearing loss and its implications for accessing learning
  • Hearing aids, cochlear implants and other implantable hearing devices
  • FM  and Soundfield System
  • Troubleshooting of assistive hearing     equipment
  • Auditory-Verbal Therapy / Listening and Spoken  Language Therapy
  • Techniques and strategies to assist the child who has a hearing loss
  • Facilitating development of social skills
  • Consideration for school readiness
  • An Occupational Therapy perspective
